About Us

We are a family run business, specialising in 24 hour care of the elderly, both long stay and respite.

Facing the beautiful Firth of Clyde and cradled by the imposing green hills and moors of Clyde Muirshiel Park, Largs has long been famous as a tourist destination. Although the Glasgow crowds going ‘doon the watter’ has dwindled Largs is an attractive location to retire to. As such we have a population of older people that is significantly higher than the Scottish average: Largs is an ideal place for a nursing home.

Moorburn Manor was established 1990, it was converted from an empty building that was formally a children’s home into a place that would care for those at the other end of the age spectrum.

Our Staff

When considering moving into a care home it is of paramount importance to know that the care and support offered is of the highest possible standard. At Moorburn we pride ourselves on the quality of care provided by our team of qualified nurses and care assistants.

Stacey is our nurse manager with high standards of nursing delivery which set the tone for the rest to follow. She is ably supported by Giovanna, Liz, Alison, Myra and Kathy whose combined experience in Moorburn comfortably exceeds sixty five years.

Staff retention is a priority – most of our care assistants have been with us for many years. Currently 80% of them have a Scottish Vocational Qualification level II or III in Care; far exceeding the minimum guidelines required by the National Care Standards.

The responsibility for our residents is collective as well as individualistic. We have a keyworker system which means that the majority of care is provided by a small team. However, Moorburn prides itself on providing a family atmosphere which means that all our staff from kitchen, to domestic, to maintenance, to office are aware that they have an important role to play.

Off duty staff often give up their time to help out at our special events; our Christmas nativity play would not be the same without the involvement of their children.  We are proud that the interaction our staff members have with residents has regularly been acknowledged and complimented by visitors.
