Our Facilities

At Moorburn we provide our residents with opportunities to get out and about.

From a simple walk on Largs promenade, to attending church or notable local events. These allow our residents to keep in touch with their local community and are always well received. If the weather is nice those less ambulant may prefer to sit in our decked patio and garden at the rear of the property.

A monthly “social calendar” of complimentary activities are drawn up. To keep our residents entertained we have several regular entertainers, weekly quizzes and the ever popular bingo.  We ask families and friends to note that some activities have recently changed days and we are currently introducing new activities.

To keep our residents active we have fun exercises suited to their abilities. All resident’s birthdays and any special events in their lives are celebrated. Families and friends are always welcome and we encourage them to visit as often as they are able. Many who do so have become part of an extended family and provide the nursing home with its special atmosphere.

In house entertainers and parties are provided free of charge and we do not charge for staff to accompany our residents to events.

Monthly resident and quarterly family meetings provide a forum to express opinions. We encourage participation and a number of suggestions regarding activities and meals have been acted upon to great success.

Moorburn has 31 single and 2 double rooms providing for 35 residents in total. These rooms are furnished but residents are welcome to make the room as homely as they wish by bringing any personal belongings or furniture with them.

Twenty nine of our rooms are en suite.

Hairdressing & Podiatrist

For those wishing to have their hair cut we have a hairdresser visits the premises every second week. A podiatrist also visits every second month. Residents are welcome to make their own arrangements regarding these.

Both of these services are charged at cost.

We provide a free in-house laundry service and basic toiletries.

Our meals are nutritionally balanced and take into account every individual’s dietary needs and choices. They are all prepared in our kitchen by our experienced chef Jackie who sources our fresh produce locally. Hot drinks and snacks are available 24 hours a day.

Communal areas

We have a large dining area where the majority of our residents enjoy their meals.

Our primary resident’s lounge adjoins the dining room. The dome shape with its high roof and many windows ensures that it is light and airy even on a dull day. The space is large with plenty of room for all our residents and it is the location of most of our activities.

We also have a small lounge in which we have installed a Colour Match Panel. This machine lights up while playing music which gives the room a calming and relaxing environment.

There is a covered outside area for those who prefer the open air.

We have a garden and patio area at the rear of the property where residents are able to sit outside. A section of the garden is used for growing vegetables which are used to supplement our kitchen supplies.

We owe a debt of gratitude for the thriving garden to the hard work of a number of our resident’s families.
